Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Yesterday, Friday morning, on the
day of her junior prom, a smart,
talented, popular sixteen year-old
girl was stabbed to death in the
hallway of her high school.
The sixteen year-old boy taken
into custody allegedly perpetrated
the attack as revenge for having
had his invitation to the prom,
turned down.
The name of the attacker has
not been shared, because he
is a juvenile. And anyway, his
name is incidental, within the
parameters of this heartbreak.
Her name was Maren Sanchez.
She was apparently a victim of
"teen dating violence.'
When I speak of how dangerous
dysfunctional personalities can
be, I sometimes feel apprehensive
that my words may sound sensational
or alarmist.
The fact is, that this danger is part
of our world. Sometimes there are
indicators of potential danger,
sometimes not. We don't know
yet, more than the barest facts about
the circumstances that led to this
tragedy. All we know is that a bright
light is gone.

Never underestimate, and those of us who are far enough out, never stop trying to get the message out there that abuse of any sort is NOT acceptable. And that, while abuse often ends with horrific violence, it doesn't need to start with any violence at all.
Nobody deserves to control the decisions of another - even as regards chilren the right is limited, when it comes to another adult, there is no right whatsoever to control the thoughts, decisions or actions of another.
Thoughts for the family and friends of the young girl, and all victims of family violence.
Always the focus has been on guns. If someone really wants to kill it can be with about anything. We need to stop people instead of focusing on the weapons. It's the people who are responsible, not the weapons.
