Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Even if that meant entirely dumping the cell phone plan altogether and paying extra money. The extra money may be worth it to not have to deal with his bullshit again.
But whether you are being petty - no. If your name is on the contract, you have the right to make decisions about that plan.
He's going to try for all he can get. Accept it, try not to let it bother you. You know what he's like---unfortunately, and above all else, Just say NO!!!!!!! To everything he wants to screw you out of.
Good luck

A person who was really interested in letting you go and respectfully accepting that things are over between you would not be acting up this way. Why can't HE go and buy his own unlimited plan and leave you and your son alone??? That would sure be an adult thing for him to do, since he is so concerned about everybody behaving like one!
Good luck, close your ears to the manipulation, and stick to your guns... xx
If YOU don't want to then DON'T! That is part of the pleasure of living abuse-free!! No one should ever ever make you do something you FEEL you don't want to do.
"In case of emergency, my son can contact me with this unlimited data and use it for what ever he needs, so he's having it"
He's actually trying to take from your son!!
The whole "adults" thing is passively saying "your behaving like a child here" so he's not changed has he?
The best advice has been said, your abuse free, you can make your own decisions now!
You've made it already, stuck to it!
You are on your way to a brand new life!
As for the cell phone plan, I also know the power of having unlimited data... And uh-uh, no, nope, there is no way I would give that up to anyone! Especially my ex, and someone who used and abused me for years. I would remove his name from the plan, buy a new phone and change the number without telling him. Give the new phone to your son, or keep it for yourself (as a back-up or emergency phone, very handy to have!).
Do not give this man one ounce of your power!! To you it may be about a cell phone, and he may even try to convince himself it is about a cell phone... But that isn't true...
It is about POWER!
Otherwise your 'spidy-sense' wouldn't be going wild and you wouldn't be reacting the way you are. You firmly set a boundary, stated what you had decided and now he is toying with you and not respecting your decision at all!
That is why you are angry and upset!
Do what is best for you and move on with your glorious new life! :)
Woohoo!!!
And after you remove him, post here for laughs! I can't wait to hear his reaction. LOL. What an entitled brat.
He's done NOTHING to deserve even a tiny further sacrifice on your part, there's no reason why you should have to give up the unlimited plan and buy another for your son. Not your problem - his. He ripped you off on the finances, he can use some of the money he stole from you to get whatever bloody plan he wants.
Your plan - just cut him off. Will be amusing when he can't contact his non-existent gf. Tho if he's anything like my ex (and he is) he may well already have a backup phone. Mine had a phone that I wasn't supposed to know about at least 6 months before we split - possibly more. Denied it of course - even after I told him I'd seen it and that I knew the number. Still just told me I was nuts. He even told the police when he was arrested that he couldn't give them his phone number because he didn't have a phone. The cop later told me how amused he was when emptying my ex's pockets, to find his mobile phone in there. My ex STILL told me he didn't have a phone, even after I told him about the cop's amusement.
Ok, nuff about me, back to you (sorry for vent lol). Short point - you want it, you're entitled to it, keep it. And who cares whether it's petty or not. Get him off your plan pronto, there's no reason you should be paying for him to chat to his gf.
