Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
All my life I have tried so hard to be accepted by my family, my people and my religious community. Eventhough they used and abused me, I thought it was my fault (because that is how I was raised) and therefore, I strived to do what I could to make them like and acxept me. But the only thing that happened was them pretending to accept me so they could exploit me. And after I served my purpose, they had no more use for me and threw me ro the side. I now understand that women are disposable and replaceable once they.are no longer young which defines their importance. So I have already reached my expiration date.
After realizing about two years ago the damage that has been done, I have been angry and resentful towards my people as well as despise them. I am also angry that I did not know I deserved better and the fact I foolishly wasted my youth.
Today, as I sat under a bush outside the library, I had my ah-ha moment. I realized that I will never be accepted by my people, will never belong anywhere, that I have no one, am alone and on my own and not to expect any help from anyone especially my people. After all, self-preservation is the number one.rule.of nature. So I have decided to fight to the best of my ability to survive and do what is necessary to do.so. Years ago, my alone status has been a hard pill to swallow but now it goes down smoothly.

Bravo! Someone said a while ago that all we really need to live is air, water, shelter, and food. I think that's true for short periods of time, even up to a year or two. But on the other hand, we are human beings and we all share a common need for closeness and family. We're social creatures at heart. So please also count in us here at DS and anyone else in your life as part of your "circle of trust". None of us are ever really as alone as we think.
