Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
call your local domestic violence shelter or hotline and ask for assistance. a lot of those places will provide assistance and information on getting a protection order.
I REALLY think you should.
and then, keep your cell phone charged and close to you, lock all doors and windows, inform friends and family, be wary when out alone or coming home, or answering the door.
do not have any contact with him. don't EVER go anywhere alone with him or let him into your place. keep your head down and your eyes open.
But fear's healthy effect is to help your survival. You do have things to be scared of, but having a RO will protect you.
Also, like you're doing--going no contact will also help. Abusers often get worse after you leave them, and many times when women come back it's very dangerous.
And remember the law is on your side. It's illegal to punch someone in the eye. The police are supposed to be protecting you.
You can get some pepper spray to bring with you when you're out. You can get a RO and tell your friends that you're not talking to him, and he's dangerous, so if he contacts them to get to you, for them to ignore him. And then you can ignore him too. And hopefully soon he'll go away.
I understand the fear. It's valid, there's good reason for it. But it also means you need to protect yourself by whatever means you can, so that you can start to feel safe again.
