Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Hi everyone. I'm going through a breakup with my mom and just really need a place to vent. She crossed my boundary for the last time a few weeks ago. She's not diagnosed with anything but does some pretty hurtful things like someone who is suffering from a personality disorder. She loves getting digs in with me, she baits me until I lash out in an embarrassing way then plays the victim to all her friends. She would suck up attention from family but none of them want much to do with her, her sisters and brother and father. I was in a fog for so many years that I'm just now able to look back at the long list of ways she has tried to hurt me.
It was my sons bday on tues and not even a phone call to him. Since going no contact I haven't answered any texts because I'm too high alert right now and don't want to say anything I will later regret. She sent me a text Monday saying she had a gift for him. I chose to just delete because in my final email to her I said she can call the kids anytime so why contact me personally? My best friend who happens to be her dead best friends kid just had his bday today and he got a text (he deleted her off fb because she recently lied to him and he chose to disengage). So this really felt like an ultimate dig. Hurt me, I'm used to it, hurt my child or me through my child and you're done.
What I'm struggling with most is to not feel hurt while coming out of the fog. I'm grieving the loss of the mother I thought I had and for not having the mom I deserved. I've always had this huge void for as long as I can remember and now I know why. Knowledge is key to change however because of her I have such a skewed outlook on life deeply rooted in me that I have no clue how to live with right now. I don't know how to live with these emotions
I have a counsellor that I just booked to see but came here hoping to connect with any other daughters out there going through this or who has been through this.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Considering separating from family, trying to determine when enough is enough, and feeling/wishing I had better parents.
You should give everyone love, respect, and kindness until they prove they no longer deserve it. It sounds like you feel your mother has lost that right. If you choose to separate from her just try to do it in a respectful way, be graceful, don't let it add fuel to her fire.
The most important thing in my opinion is to not allow yourself to feel guilt. Drowning men and woman save no one, forgive yourself, forgive her (she has her negative qualities for the same reasons you, I or anyone else does -> experiences), and do your best to be great mother and person of this earth.

I wish you the best!
If you're mom is anything like mine I'm sure you've been told you are too sensitive and probably accused of having anger issues. I've learned that this is called gas lighting. The words she spoke to create the shameful reaction from myself wasn't enough, she has to make sure I know it's all me, I'm the crazy one.
Brock that was some great sound advice. The reason I know I'm close to no contact is the defeat in myself. I'm not angry to the point of raging, the only emotions I feel are hurt and a tad relieved. I don't want to get revenge and call her out and name call. I just really don't want to do anything for her benefit. I know for certain that she is ruining other people's image of me, she's being the martyr/victim and anyone she talks to about it is going to walk away thinking I'm such an ungrateful daughter and so on. Albeit the crazy upbringing and into my adulthood I've actually gained some great perspective about people. Their opinions of me don't concern me if they don't even care what my side of things are. I'm ok with it all. Even when it comes down to my own father. If he will choose to believe the smear she's painting of me and not care to ask me then it's his loss, I do know my worth concerning that part of life.
