Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
This is good stuff and also very true. I found that I completed all the stages but am still held bound by this house. But I do not talk to him, period. WHen I get a contract on the house I will let him know when closing is.
Its weird that things left undone keep us tied to our abuser. House, kids, business.
Thanks for your contribution.
This was very good. I LOVE T. Turner.
One point, though, (a quote by Hardesty), with which I want to both agree and tussle.
It does take more than a safety plan. But most victimes of abuse have not been focusing on their boundaries and their safety ENOUGH to this point, in general.
Yes, Leaving takes more than a safety plan. But please don't underestimate safety. Controllers losing their power feel the greatest degree of frustration. They HATE losing control. These are the moments of greatest danger. This is the very cross-roads, when a victim can become a survivor. But doing that requires meticulous attention to safety.
Otherwise ---- yes ---- these five steps are a pretty good outline.
Leaving is HARD. But it can be done. And because it leads to a life free of abuse, it's both necessary and so, SO worth it.
I.
Once we break that pull..We can really get free..
What stage is going to group therapy? I start next Tues
Funny, but most of the time when I'm doing something for myself, I get this small sense that I'm being selfish... duh... it passes. I gently tell myself, it's me that matters now.
My self-confidence is slowing making its way back and this is a good feeling.
