Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
On this eve of the eve of Thanksgiving, I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate those of you here that have helped me in this ugly, dark chapter of my life. For those not familiar, I stumbled across this group in mid September, days after I left a toxic relationship. I know, for fact, being here and being supported by such wonderful cyber friends has been the pivotal point in finding my new life. I'm weird, words like "healing" "recovery" "abuse" are so dire in my mind. I still have a difficult time using them. Even with my therapist!
I can't thank everyone enough. It's like I know you in real life, except I don't. I don't know your beautiful faces, except for a few. I'm kind of at a lost....there is so much to say about all of you. Each of you is so unique and special l in your own way. And it shows in your writings. I'm honored to have found this site and such tremendous support.
I went out this evening for a "Cornhole" competition. {It's really not perverse.) I had fun. On the way home I thought about the evening and how I interacted with complete strangers. You know what....I am a damn nice and warm woman. I want everyone to be happy and I show it. I like me and the person I am. And if someone doesn't like it or wants to tear me down, see you later, alligator. I don't have time and I certainly don't deserve bad treatment.
I have had several tragic "break-ups" in my life. But I have never felt the growth and learning afterwards as I am experiencing now. I like it!

You are amazing!!! You have given so much back... More than you know, I have a feeling! :)
Truly, this experience has brought me closer to myself and made me more completely who I am than anything else has before. It sucked when I was going through it, and sometimes I still struggle. I am just so thankful to be me again that I will never let anyone tear it away! :)
Who knew that there would be a gift in abuse?
I have to say you come across as such an extremely intelligent lady. I am always amazed by your knowledge you share. I kinda envy you...in a good way.
There is a gift...a really gigantic, enormous (not physically, of course) for all of us that are or have been enduring the "a" word.
I also agree that through this pain we grow in a way we never would without it. Not saying I'm jumping up and down in excitement about it...just that I absoultely see and have told others how much I've grown bc of all this. I am getting freer than I ever thought I could be or knew how to be before I realized I wasn't free. You can quote me on that. Ha ha.
I'm so glad you're at a place where you feel good about yourself.
