Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
Here are some that my therapist wrote for me:
1. not everyone has to like me. If someone doesn't like me or something I do, it's NOT the end of the world
2. Focus on making progress, not achieving perfection
3. What have I done today to validate myself for?
4. Argue against your harsh inner critic. Can you make fun of/laugh at how over the top your inner critic is?
#4 is a big one. i read an article in a magazine recently (maybe it was Self) about getting over your inner critic. The author created an identity for her critic and pictured this inner critic as a balding, acne-ridden bully who had no room to criticize. She gave him the name "Stan", complete with pocet protector. The article was very interestingly written and does hold promise for getting over this.
Good luck, and ((HUGS))
