Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
i went to grad school at 33, it's nice to have an excuse to buy a pencil case isn't it? you sound like a more focused student than i ever was, but i found the experience so much more expansive and amazing than it would have been had i been younger. i always had my eye on the clock, so i could drink at those parties you wisely avoided. but grad school was so interesting and i really became a student for the first time, and it made me realize i had never thought of myself as smart until then. it felt great.
it will be a bumpy joyous road, enjoy every minute of it. congratulations! what an amazing accomplishment, the world is lucky you have chosen to heal us. thank you!
'Feel the fear, and do it anyway.'
You are a fantastically educated, wise, and sensitive lady. There is not a single doubt in my mind that you will be an incredible doctor. And your maturity and worldliness will add to that, not take away from it.
I can understand how much you thought things would work out differently, and wanted them to... but, although I would love for you to have been spared all that pain for your sake, your experiences make you who you are - the brilliant Free we know and love!
Enjoy your new journey, my friend, and please check in whenever you have the time! Wishing you the best of everything. Huge hugs xxx
Those young, cocky kids can't hold a candle to you and your experience and wisdom.
Life never really turns out like we imagine does it
But sometimes it's better!
You go girl!
Wishing all of life's best in your next chapter...
Hugs,
Good for you!
Go for it!
By the way,
if you have a
minute, check
out the life and
accomplishments
of Diana Nyad.
She says in her
early life, she was
sexually abused
by her father and
a sports coach.
And then, she became
renown for marathon
swimming feats.
She stopped swimming
channels and around islands
at thirty. Then, in her sixties,
she decided she HAD to
cross the hundred miles
from Cuba to Miami. It
took her a total of FIVE
attempts. Everyone said
it couldn't be done, let
alone by a sixty-something
year old woman.
In September of 2013,
she did it.
Go for your dreams.
Be scared and
do it anyway.
It'll be that much
sweeter when it
comes to pass.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i bet you will wind up being friends w/ those kids, or at least a few...keep us posted as to how it's going. i think that many of us here, or maybe i shouldn't speak for others, are scared to take a leap, and struggle with the self-esteem issues it takes to improve our lives/my life. so, to hear about another woman making her goals possible hits home, another survivor that is.
high five.
It's ironic isn't? I can't tell you how many times I have felt that way. Good for you! Forcing on in the face of fear! I wish I had your strength. I was planning on getting my professional designation before the split then couldn't even imagine dealing with all of that and the split at the same time. I still don't think I'm ready to take all that on. You're awesome!
It's never too late!!
