Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.
The few times I've watched thise crime shows, they were so graphic that the images still are with me. And, bcz of what I've been through and my emotional state, I think that I shouldn't watch that stuff.,,but the storyline sucks you in..sigh.
There is a great guided imagery specifically designed for PTSD by Belleruth Naperstek on www.healthjourneys.com. It's reasonably priced, especially if you download it instead of buying the cd. She also offers a free 15 min relaxation guided imagery. I started w/that one and did get the one for PTSD and found it very helpful over a period of time. It can evoke emotions, but it is in a healing way and what I have found is that the only way to heal is to do it in a way where we can safely release the hurt & pain & emotions associated w/the abuse.
Big healing hugs.....
There are movies that I love, but have to fast forward thru difficult scenes that have or might trigger me. Somedays, I'm in a better place mentally and can watch pretty much anything. Other days, I have to hold the remote in my hand, ready to switch channels if I sense a trigger coming.
Sorry you feeling this way, and I know how awful it is. If you can, let the feelings come Joan. Each time you allow yourself to feel the sadness, pain, hurt, etc., it gets "a bit" easier the next time around.
I haven't quite mastered how to get past them yet as well.
I just want you to know I care and wish you peace...
Calm and tranquil thoughts coming your way...xo
Huge hugs xxx
