Phobia Support Group
A phobia (from the Greek "fear"), is a strong, persistent fear of situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.

but im here to support if u need it! it's hard to deal with any kind of phobia!!
have a nice day
What was so upsetting was that as a child my therpist had no idea what was wrong with me it wasn't until I controlled my own mind and got over the phobia with self-talk and forcing myself in situations that MIGHT allow me to see it, but I researched it and found out that it was an actual phobia I had and it helped me understand me a lot better!
I would love to give advice on how to get over it, it took me a while, and like I said some things still linger and I think it is because of the OCD.
I have emetophobia also. It stared around age 11 then after a year or so symptoms calmed down. However I could not be around anyone sick without having severe anxiety. Then symptoms came back full blast at 18 with ups and downs or at least moments when its is less obsessional than others. However no matter what if i feel nauseous its a disaster. I will really freak out start crying amongst many other things... I have to manage this phobia and panic disorder so talking with anyone who understands this will be great. We can exchange on how deal with this individually. Stay strong!!
I didn't drink or go to parties in college because of emetophobia. It has destroyed parts of my life and all of my friends look down on me for it. They think I'm being anti-social. I have one friend who is also an emetophobic and she and I have had some very helpful conversations about it. To know that there are others out there---who know we're not crazy! is SO helpful. I'm looking forward to talking to some of you about it.
