Which is better blood or 24hr urine for pheochromocytoma ? I do have all the symptoms. I had the blood test, doc says my level is only 2x higher than normal, but told not a big issue and not pheochromocytoma . The endo said my level would have to be at least 4x the normal level.

Also, it was a fasting level, but he order a non-fasting level. Does it matter if it is a fasting for non fasting?

Has anyone found certain food to bring on attacks?

Also, I have been just dx with MCTD, so don't know if this has anything to do with my symptoms or not.

Also, I did have a ct or my abdominal, but they could not see the left adrenal because of my liver I guess. Could they have missed it?

My husbands levels were only x2 and while they are usually higher they don't have to be. He was finally seen at Stanford and they confirmed it is a pheo

I originally had a 24 hour urine test done 10 years ago which showed my adrenaline levels at 4 times the accepted upper limit.

No further tests were done, so I remained undiagnosed.


Fast forward 10 years of hell & I had another 24 hour urine test and it showed my adrenal levels at 6 times the accepted upper range.
This was apart from a CT Scan which showed the actual growth.

Avoid Alcohol,Caffeine,Nicotine, Any drugs with pseudoeffadrine.(spelling?)

I had one pheo removed along with my left adrenal gland and it NEVER showed up in my urine... it was confirmed that it was a pheo with a biopsy after removal!

The plasma-free metanephrines is the test of choice now, and is really specific.

Avoid anything fermented, beer or wine, pickled and vinegar. Causes hot flashes and sudden panic
