Phenylketonuria (PKU) Support Group
Phenylketonuria [PKU] is a human genetic disorder, in which the body lacks phenylalanine hydroxylase, the enzyme necessary to metabolize phenylalanine to tyrosine. Left untreated, the disorder can cause brain damage and progressive mental retardation as a result of the accumulation of phenylalanine and its breakdown products.
There are a few recipe books out already, but they cater to mainly the classic PKU, so the dishes are much too low in phe to do me much good as far as finishing my food for the day, not to mention they often include low-pro ingredients that I don't have. A recipe book for hyper-phe would be nice. I've never actually seen one.
