Hello, I just joined today...what a nice place to be! We share our lives with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 budgies, 1 fantail pigeon, 2 goldfish a pond full of Koi and myriad native species who roam our 1/2 acre garden. My husband's dog Lucatoni is 2yrs old in December, he is a Malamute x Staffy and we have had him since he was around 7 weeks of age. He is a very light eater and whilst he is not too thin is quite slim, unlike every other dog we have owned he is not at all motivated by food and as I mentioned, eats sparingly. He is very active, and has a gorgeous shiny coat...but I would like to see him weigh a bit more. I did read an article about Malamutes, which stated they were bred to work hard and eat little, but on the other hand his mother was a Staffy and they are really good eaters. I really would like an opinion from anyone who has a dog of similar breed. My little dog Topo is a Chihuahua x Jack Russell, and despite being very small (smaller than one of the cats!) would eat 'til he'd explode (if you let him!) and he can't even encourage his big friend to eat. Oh I will add, they are all regularly wormed etc. and Lucatoni is at present unsterilised. Anyway, I'm glad I found this group and look forward to any help....
