aweful urine odors

I wish someone could help me figure out what is causing the aweful strong urine odor my female cat is produsing. She is about 7 or 8 years old. She's been fixed. Could she have a UTI. She has had bad smelling urine for along time though. She does not act sick. Someone please give me an answer.

My first reaction is that she had an incontinence problem...she may be leaking small amounts of urine all the time, thus a chronic odor!!Not a good thing for an owner to have to deal with but the poor kitty has no control! Has she ever borne kittens causing a cystocele? Good luck!

My opinion is either a UTI or urine crystals. Is the odor just in the
litter box or is it some where else?. It is also possible that she
has renal poly cystitis.

At 1 time or another with a multi cat household, I have dealt with all
of these. Good Luck

I have know idea what poly cyctitis is, but I can say she will also go on the pile of clothes in my laundry room sometimes but I think that is when her liter box needs scooped more than likely. But when I scoop thru her box the urine odor is almost like pure ammonia. It almost knocks me down. I only have one other cat and I believe she had this problem before i got him. I don't know, maybe I need to ask her vet. Thank you for the ideas.
