Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
You have a heart of gold. You have been through losses with pets and my heart goes out to you. When I see your profile, I can see your heart and your love for your babies. I don't have a lot of words for you, just know that your babies are your everything. I am sorry for your losses and even more sorry that I can't exactly find the right words for you. I guess I look at how many losses you have had, and that heart of yours, which says I am saddened and missing my babies. You, my friend are dear, and I hope your pain eases up for you and some peace comes your way!
Before I had Scout, I had another cat named Tigger who I loved just as much as Scout. He was outside one day and never came back. I looked forever for him but then just had to accept the fact he was gone and Ill never know what happened to him. This was 11 years ago and I was pretty depressed about Tigger for several years. I still tear up thinking about him.
I think not knowing can be worse in a way than knowing. There is the hope that some little kid found him and brought him home where he received love & affection. I chose to believe this rather than the alternative because it helped me to accept the loss better.
It took me 4 years after losing Tigger to get Scout. And now Scout is gone because of a tragic accident. I just miss them both so much. I hope that you know you are not alone.
