Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
I was feeding 3 orange cats (probably a family), and some bw cat, before this brutal cold spell, at least into November. I even bought different food for them, not as good as my 2 cats that I had at the time.
They all seem gone; be nice if their owners kept them in during winter, but they seemed to be living in the flop house next door that became empty.
I totally reject that most people become poor and suddenly cant afford their pets---in my rural slum there are just plain lowlife losers who 4ever, for decades, have lots of money from the govt for booze, drugs, parties, but never take care of their pets.

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...
Some folks have posted ways to help shelter homeless cats in the cold by using a plastic bin or insulated cooler, upside down with a hole for them to get in and out. It is horrible to think of them out in the freezing cold.
It is sad though because we would not have this problem if everyone would spay and neuter their cats to begin with. I live in an area where people also dump dogs and cats. It is very kind of you to feed them.
I had a feral cat that was on Guam which kept spraying inside my jeep with the top off it....I got the animal control to give me a cat catching cage and I basically caught on very preggers cat....she was feral...took her into animal control and left the cage there....
scrawny lets out the most pitiful meow; if I didn't have to worry about fleas and feline leukemia for my other cat, I'd grab him...the downstairs cat doesn't stop scratching for fleas in the winter.
thankfully, a lot of the snow and ice has melted in last few hours.
maybe the homeless cats even know I need them as much as they might need me.
and these two complained about everyone else in the neighborhood, moving, supposedly, to a better area!
the couple who abandoned their cat have romantic plans to get married around valentine's day.
the boyfriend got a job a few months ago, so they already have all kind of plans, seemingly oblivious that they don't have a car, and his new job could end that quick now days. And they once owed the landlord back rent; see how long a new landlord allows that.
they moved cause THEY don't like this neighborhood
if I lamely do mention this, their attitude will probably be that the place they moved to doesn't allow pets.
poor cat going through food I put out yesterday for other cats, so I put a fresh can out.
called landlord, about the cat---I was told they owe rent, landlord didn't know about them sneaking out.
