Dont apologize for mourning your pet. My 16 year old cat died 5 years ago and I still cry. I am sorry for your loss.

I agree don't apologize for mourning the loss of your pet. Most people don't understand the bond we have with our pets. I lost my dog Abby a little over a year ago and I still cry every day as hard as I did the first day I lost her. She was my baby and I feel so lost with out her.

so sorry that you kitty died....I know it is tough to get thru the death of a family pet....I hope you consider another rescue kittie from humane society or rescue group....hugs

Every loss is hard...please be kind to yourself...as cats age they change...often it is hard to differentiate aging changes from heath changes...she had 14 years wonderful years with you and you with her!!!

A new loss often touches upon a previous loss. I understand. Losing Hamlet (who I adopted after my brother dies) was like losing my brother again.

You aren't a crybaby! Your cat was oart of your family so you will morn her as anyone else you lose,,especially more so because of you being alone and because her passing was so quick.
We didn't realize that pets could get diabetis till a dog (years ago) had a seizure and we took it to an emergency vet,

Hi there, I just noticed we wrote almost identical stories about our little kitties.

I feel so guilty for not noticing my cat was losing weight - I thought it was just kind of dropping because she was getting older. I just have to remind myself that I would Never Ever do anything to harm that cat and I loved her with all my heart - which I'm sure is the same with you too.

I have also lived a single life for a long time and I think the grief is even more intense when we have relied on them for company and comfort for so long.

I definitely know how you are feeling - I cried for a whole month and I am only just starting to feel slightly better now. You just have to go through it, but try to be kind to yourself as well.

Never apologize for feeling grief. You have every right to mourn the lost of a loved one. I believe that after awhile our pets are more than just an animal, they are our friends, companions, even like a child. When we lost our kitties three years apart, they were both 16 yrs when they passed I was crushed. Jewel died from diabetes, but she lived for awhile (two years) after being diagnosed. Then three years later Smokey died suddenly. He was acting strange one evening, but we took him to the vet, she said she couldn't find anything wrong with him. He died very early the next morning. The pain I felt was beyond any grief I've ever felt. I've lost both of my sisters and the pain I felt was actually just as hard for Smokey.
I honest can't say that the pain of losing a loved one ever really goes away, for me...I've just learn to manage it. I try to remember the fun lovin times we had together and know that some day we will be reunited.
We did adopt two new furbabies, Onyx and Sheeba. They aren't the same as our previous cats but we love them all the same. They have added joy to our home and I love them just as much.
