Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
on Christmas Eve, I took my beautiful blue eyed husky mix for a car ride. Innocently enough, I went without a leash because I could find hers. Once we got home, she went potty and then bolted. I immediately started after here and realized she was moving too fast for me to keep up, I ran back around to get my car and heard brakes squeal.
I knew... I knew it was her. I got in my car and whipped around the bend and there she was, on the side of the road. She had been hit and they never ever stopped. I stopped my car in the middle of the road and got out to rush to her side. She passed quickly.
She was only a baby, only a year and a half. She was my one true companion, seeing me through the roughest year of my life. I'm completely lost. I've lost all will to live. Seeing her beautiful blue eyes drift shut and knowing that it was my fault, at that. I can hardly live with myself. I miss her so much. I'm praying and praying that she knows how sorry I am and how much I loved her. We had such a happy life together and it was cut short. I know it was an accident. My accident for letting her run, the drivers accident for hitting her, but I cannot get past the fact that they never even stopped. They left her there to die like roadkill.
I can't stop seeing it. I can't stop shaking. Everytime I close my eyes, I see hers struggling, filled with pain. I laid on the side of the road with her until a stranger came and helped us, helped me get her in my car to take her home. Then I got her home, covered her with a blanket, and laid with her in the driveway until my parents came to get the two of us.
Im shattered and I don't even know how to go about asking for forgiveness for this because I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive myself.
i now go home to an empty, silent house and I think that's what I deserve. I'm so broken; just like my little girl.. Charlie, I am so sorry.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

But you know it was an accident. And Charlie surely doesn't blame you. She only wanted to be there for you, I think. And she hung on and spent those last few special minutes knowing you were by her side and loved her! Please don't doubt that. All they know is love. They don't know blame, and you need to forgive yourself for her fate. Dog's dart out all the time. Dogs get hit by cars often, and are fine. But for some reason, Charlie wasn't, just like my first dog wasn't. I questioned and questioned, how was it, a big dog like him 100lbs at 1yr old would be knocked dead, while much smaller dogs could get hit and walk away. We just don't know.
Please accept my sincere condolences for you loss of Charlie.
Then a neighbor's dog many years ago got loose from the fence she was in and she always headed to see me. I should had taken her back!! But instead after she left me she got hit by a car as I stood watching and could tell she tried to get out of the way while the jerk ran over her again instead of stopping. Just another guilt for me. The yelp she screamed also horrible.
While our words don't take away your pain know you are not alone and it's just a sad part of life accidents happen and all we can do is learn by them. For me, it was I will never let a dog suffer one minute longer again when I know there is no cure for it and I will hang on to any animals I can until I can get them safely home.
