Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

My sister & I had to put our Papillon, Lara, to sleep on Oct. 29, 2013. She was my sister's dog. Two years ago last Fri., we had to put our Papillon, Jack Frost, to sleep. Jack was MY baby and I'm still crying over him off & on a little. I'd been ok by the second anniversary of his death. But, since we had to put Lara to sleep more recently, it just makes the mourning process harder. We've got two other dogs to love & care for...Blacky (Border Collie/Papillon) & Bambi (Min Pin). They still can't take the place of Jack & Lara.
I talk & laugh about Patches who died in June 1999. Jack & Lara makes me cry. The day Patches died, I started writing to him in a diary which happens to be a wired notebook. I wrote letters to him and expressed my feelings. Then on the day Jack died, I started a new notebook diary to him. Then on the day when Lara died, I wrote to her in Jack's diary 'cause they were "brother & sister" and were very close for many years until he got older and started scaring her. She still loved & cared for him no matter what. I write to each one and then to both. I wrote to Jack last Fri. and then a short note to Lara. It feels so good to get my feelings out. I rely on my faith in God to get me through Jack & Lara's deaths. He is here with me to comfort me in this time of sorrow, like He would be if I had lost a human relative or friend. BTW, all of my babies & my mom's Dashshund, Gretchen, is buried in our mom & dad's backyard pet cemetery where I can visit their graves anytime I want.
My advice is to start a diary to Celeste. Tell her how you feel. If you want, enclose pics of her. It helps so much to get your feelings out. It's going to be VERY hard for you for awhile but you CAN do it. Like I said before, mourning is in YOUR time and NOT somebody else's. My Thoughts & Prayers go out to you both.

This is an EXCELLENT website! There is a chatroom, message board, poems, & etc. Every Mon. night in the chatroom, the owner of the website has what he calls "The Monday Night Candle Ceremony". There can easily be over 75 people in the chatroom that night. People chat until he locks the chatting part but people can still join the room. He types a poem or two and then he starts the ceremony. The words to it is on the website somewhere. It is sooo WONDERFUL! Afterwards, he unlocks the chat and people say their goodbyes to their pets and most leave with a few staying around to chat for awhile. People can add their pet's name to the Bridge List which is a list of all the pets who have gone to Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge is also on the website. I cry each time I read it.
There is a link on the site to Amazon.com. Whenever you go through that link to Amazon.com to buy things, a certain amount of money is donated to PetLoss.com. I like supporting the group this way. So, since my sister & I buy a lot from Amazon.com throughout the year, we help it that way.
