The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
my angel went to heaven on november 18, 2010. he was only two years old. He died of a heart attack and i feel guilty that i was not home for him. My fifteen year old son was and the cat dropeed dead right in front of him.
When I came home and put him in a box a heard a meow and I think it was him trying to say I know you are here. While on the way to the vet the cat kept jumping in the box and it freak me out. I am so lost and alone. I haven't been able to sleep, eat or stop crying. We buried him on Saturday and the vet gave us some of his fur to remember him by.
I brought a picture frame and put alot of different pictures of him in there.
Wish i knew if his spirit is with me. Alot of people tell me I should not be upset because it was only a dumb cat and when it died why didn't you throw it in the trash.
How could I throw it in the trash. His brother is hurting and I feel like I can't love him. Sometimes I wish he would not come near me and I feel really bad about it.

Those people telling you not to be upset and that you should have thrown him away are a bunch of unfeeling numbskulls. Our pets are part of our families and to many of us become our four legged children. You had every right to give him a decent burial and grieve in whatever manner you choose!
That's cool that the vet gave you some of his fur. When we had to put our dog Bandit to sleep a few years ago, I found some of his fur around the house and collected it and kept it in a small receptacle. At the time, I was so distraught that I initially said no to cremation. But the next day I changed my mind but unfortunately it was too late.
When my dog Angel passed away two weeks ago, I made sure to have her cremated and now keep her ashes on a special table that I have converted into an altar for our departed pets.
That's good that you did a picture frame with photos of your kitty. Place a candle in front of it, light it and say a prayer, recite the Rainbow Bridge or just do nothing but remember your beloved. Again, any way you choose to grieve or remember your kitty is up to you and don't let any of those naysayers tell you otherwise.
Coming on here was also a good step. Once you have dealt with the initial process of your grief, you'll be able to help others who are going throug the same thing. The circle of life..................

I also lost my cat, but on Friday, November 19, 2010. Cinnabun passed away from Acute Renal Failure and although he lived much longer than your angel, he passed away at the age of 7. If you ever feel like talking, please message me. I could really talk to someone..
