Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

I sincerely know how much you miss Rupert and my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Time does make things a bit more manageable, but as time passes, the memories and emotions come more swiftly and with more force. At least at times. I'm also trying to balance the good memories with the sad, sick ones. Grief is a very strange and cruel thing.
Know you're not alone, and know I'm thinking of you and your Rupert. Many hugs to you.
I really do understand how you feel about Rupert.
There is a country and western song that goes
"One more day, one more time, 1 more sunset baby, I'd be satisfied and then again, you know what I would do, it'd be wishing I'd spend one more day with you."
That's I think how we all feel.
That is so true!
After holding off for a LONG time, I have finally had to replace my car. I love that car -- it represents a lot of different things to me, and I wanted her for so long. I've had her 14 years, and drove Rupert around in her. But I had to be practical. We're getting ready to move, and she just wouldn't make the trip, or be a reliable car for me to have in the new place.
I really don't want to give her up. But I told my husband, I'd gladly trade her for Rupert. In a heartbeat. I'd give up anything, I think, except my husband, just to have Rupert back. Even if it was just a day. Or an hour. Just to hold him and kiss him.
It's going to be hard to move away. This was the only home he ever knew, and he loved it! He loved our yard. It's huge and grassy, and has big trees and squirrels to chase. That's why we knew right away he had to be buried here. And we did it knowing we were going to leave, and that it would be hard. But leaving will be sad.
