Hello all, I am new here to this group. We had a Chihuahua named Mommy dog. She was 9 years old and 3 months when she died August 9, 2012 at approximately 935am 185 days ago. Yes I count the days. She died of a stage 5 heart murmur. She weighed 4LBS and she was very small. She loved my wife and myself equally I would say. We took her everywhere you could possibly think being she was so small and we had a doggie bag that just blended in nicely when we went into stored or wherever we was going. Last year I had her teeth cleaned and right after that she started coughing a lot so I took her back to the vet and the vet said she had a stage 4 heart murmur which totally confused me being she was fine right before that. I immediately put her on raw dog food all kinds of high end herbs and good ph balanced water. As the year went on she started to have a lot of coughing and labored breathing at times so we had her put on enilipril and a lasix for the fluid that was starting to build in her lungs. I started crying a lot about 5 months before she died because I new in my heart this was not good, however I was praying to God for Him to divinely heal her and He never did heal her. On the morning of August 9, 2012 she died in my wife's arms right in front of me and I flipped out. I had to take 4 months off from work it was so bad, I am a grown man and I never new I could cry so much. She slept with us and was with us 24-7 and I never experienced death before. I would do anything to have her back again. I know in my heart when I die and go home to God He will let me have her again. I got to go i am crying to much just writing this. Bye

I'm so sorry that you're still feeling sad for the loss of Mommy dog, they become family and it's so hard when they go.
I can tell from what you've written that you loved her very much and did everything for her that you could.
I really don't know what to say to help you,but I believe time is a great healer.

I want you to know how much I appreciate your story. You have answered questions my vet never explained to me. My Rosa, Long coat gray chihuahua left me one week ago. Aged 10 yrs 3 months. She had a few seiazures thru out her life, dr put her on medication for that, and then she had a big one that was so different 2 yrs ago. She was fit for 9 of those years and real small, 2 lb 15 ounces. Last year he diagnosed her as Atrial heart block. Because of her size she couldnt have any medacation for her heart. During the past year she got really "fat". I took her in every 3 months to the vet, cut down her food a little, but she was so puffy like an over sized watermelon. She had started that cough last year and panted alot. Your story filled in the missing pieces. I am a little angry at my vet, I wonder if I could of had her a little longer. SHE was my life!! I cant even bury her in the cold ground. I am waiting for her ashes to be returned to me, and my sister got me an urn so she can remain with me (sorta) until we are reunited in heaven. I am sorry about your Chihuahua. I buried Mommy dog right outside my backdoor and at times I think I should have had her cremated however it does not matter because I will be with her in Heaven one day soon. Some vets lie to their clients just to make money or maybe they just don;t know a lot of things about canines. I do know as small as these Chihuahuas are they should not be vaccinated and rabies shots and so forth because it kills there immune system. I vaccinated her right before her dental cleaning in 2011 and a few weeks later is when all this started with her. I feel so guilty at times and would give up my home, cars, anything I own to have her back. I prayed to God for 1 year after she got sick to divinely heal her and I guess since I did not have to have her put down and she died in Darlene's arms my prayers were answered. Death is so hard and I will never get that close to another dog again this is sooooo hard everyday even at 188 days later I still grieve over her. She was my everything besides my wife that is here on earth.........nothing matters here no more on earth I want to be with Mommy dog.

I so understand your grief. I at 1st, thought about if there was a chance on freezing her, like walt disney, so just maybe, I could have her back, then I wished that cloning was more available.... I kept a bit of her hair, who knows. Then I think about history repeating itself and having to deal with her death again. Its too much. I have 7 other chihuahuas here. I believe in the shots and dental. Please, dont blame yourself. If your baby got a dental infection, it could of taken her too. there are no answers, no blame. everything born owes a death. But LOVE, its the key to forever. They are never gone as long as we remember them. It sounds like you have alot of love to offer a chihuahua. They have so much to return. My Rosa was my 1st long coat. She was people to me. Maybe because her breeder had to bottle feed her when she was a baby. She interacted with all people. My short coats are well behaved, but dont start things like she did (play? Feed me, bark, bark bark, pet me, I will be petted). Plz my friend, know you are not alone. Hug your beautiful wife. I plan on planting a new rose in my garden. I shall buy 2, in memory of our babies. what color was your mommie? I am buying a blue rose for my Rosa....

HELLO, SO SORRY THAT YOUR BABY PASSED, IT IS HEARBREAKING AND EACH TIME DOESN'T GET ANY EASIER, I LOST MY OSCAR LAST JUNE, AND MY OTHER BABIES, I TOO CRY AND THINK, IF I COULD HAVE DONE MORE? WE ALL DO, BUT WE HAVE DONE OUR BEST, AS FOR THE VACCINATIONS I AGREE, IT COULD BE TOO MUCH, HOMOEOPHATIC VACCINE ARE AVAILABLE BUT IF I TAKE MY DOG ABROAD I HAVE TO VACCINATE.. YOU REMEMBER THE BEAUTIFUL AND LOVING TIMES YOU HAD, CHERISH THEM AND TRY TO GET BETTER, LOVING ANOTHER PET WOULD HELP WITH THE HEALING , I KNOW HOW MUCH T HELPS TO HAVE CHARLIE, AND WE ALSO GIVE A HOME TO A DOG THAT MIGHT BE PUT DOWN, HOPE YOU FIND PEACE, LOVING HUGS LUCY**

I feel so sad for you and your wife. It's so hard to lose a baby that sleeps with you. Ours always have and being with them is a joy and bright spot in each day.

My husband and me both cry together for our baby who died last August. Our new baby is becoming a big comfort for that boatload of pain. She shines a new little light into our lives. I think I will always need a sweet baby to love.

Fifteen years is a long time...but this new baby is not yet a year old and I love her deeply already.
