Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.

Foxy and I met at a no-kill shelter. It was a cold day at Fuzzy Friends Rescue as I made the rounds of the outside pens. I saw a little reddish brown dog sharing one with only one other dog, but passed by because there were a lot of pens and dogs to see. As I walked passed the pen a second time, this little dog came to chainlink gate and looked at me. I stopped and looked her over and put my hand out and she nuzzled it. I stood there looking at her and she at me and I was hooked. I got one of the helpers to get her for me. While filling out the adoption papers, one of the ladies said she hoped I wanted an active dog and that kinda worried me. I put her on the front seat of the car next to me where she promptly fell asleep. She slept all the way home. Active dog I asked myself. I put her in the backyard since that would be her home for the most part and she slowly walked around a few times and came back to the gate. Active, huh? Brought her into the house where she slowly walked through all the rooms. Then, she jumped in my lap and went to sleep again. She woke up after about 30 minutes and all hell broke loose! She was bouncing off the walls, floor, and ceiling, going through the house again! Took her to back yard again where she ran the 4 minute mile all over the yard. I got her back in the house where she got back in my lap,,,licked my face, nuzzled my neck, and fell asleep again. The rest of the day was joyous with petting and rubbing, starting a wonderful relationship.

Foxysdad, I just know that Foxy brought you joy and happiness. I also know that Foxy got back 10 times what Foxy gave to you. You both were so lucky to have met as you did.

I love the avatar you have of Foxy. So pretty and a furbaby is so happy when somebody adopts him/her. They just want a home filled with love and good food. lol. I know how much you miss Foxy. How beautiful!
