Yes, after my cat Crystal died last year, my dog Lilly definetly grieved. She and Crystal were best friends, and Lilly took it very hard. She moped around for the longest time, and when we got Jade (our "new" cat) she refused to acknowledge her. For weeks she barely tolerated Jade, but luckily Lilly eventually warmed up to Jade. I do wander occasionally though if she misses Crystal, she still won't go to the part of our yard where Crystal is buried.

I know without a doubt that when Taffy died, her son, Wolf, grieved. I brought him in the house while she was being buried, but I could not keep him away from the window. After she was gone, he succumbed to leukemia and died within a couple of years.

yes indeed, when I lost Mystic a few years ago oscar looked around aND CALLED HER FOR WEEKS. iT WAS REALLY SAD. iF YOU GO INTO MY PICTURES YOU WILL SEE JUST HOW CLOSE THEY WERE. It broke my heart.

I lost my best friend a cat of 18 years recently, we had his mother also. His mother died suddely about 5 years ago and her son greived terribly. I can honestly say the son was depressed for several months.

But he is now with his Mom and Rainbox Bridge.

When James cat 21 passed away last year his twin sister Sammy as we brought the cat house home was sniffing and looking for James, on the way to the vets she knew it was going to be the last time...

She stook her neck out and i will never forget her really wretching to see where we were taking him, she knew, james knew and we knew... she did miss him for ages but now gets on with things although shes 21, she sleeps more and more but is more friendlier with the 9 year old cat now, but he still trys and goes for her and we put a stop to that... the dogs love sam, they chase the younger cat but respect her

After we lost Mabel our other cat Bubba was very affectionate and always wanted to be by my side, hes very independent and he really seemed to understand what happened. We ended up adopting another cat bacardi and he is getting used to him they are sharing the bed so its a good sign i think.

Missy when my gizzie died his little brother Keegan went in a downhill spiral, he was tramatized I believe , by what he saw that morning, me waking and screaming, doing CPR , breathing into my Giz begging him to wake up, even though Giz was gone I tried for hours and Keegan watched, after he was afraid, to be on our bed, to be alone in the living room, even to walk by the spot where I worked on my baby, we did meds , thru the vet and nothing worked, I was at a loss but knew I could be everything to him but his 4 legged friend and even though I was so lost and in such pain we got another pup, will be 4 weeks now with the new little guy and Keegans playing and has bonded with the little guy and so have I..I wasnt sure if I could even think about another pet but for keegan I did it, I couldnt lose him to and I know a few people that after losing one the other passed also, today I dont regret it, I miss my Giz so much and I am still mourning him but I did what was right for keegan

When Rufus disappeared, Lucifer sat by the cat door for 3 weeks just waiting for him to return. This time when Dusty passed I left him in the open for a whole night before I took him to be cremated. Both Lucifer and Stormy hung around him and smelled him and they seem a lot more accepting. Since I'm going thru a divorce and my STBX has left and Dusty is gone, both Lucifer and Stormy are stressed about the changes in the household so it's hard to say if it is just Dusty's passing. I do believe that it was easier for the kats to adjust when Dusty was here the whole time he was sick vs Rufus just not coming home.

I had to put one of my little fur baby cats to sleep last Oct. and her sister and brother are still here, and her aunt. THey were all 6 and 7 years old, so they lived all their lives together. After she died, the sister kept going back in her (the passed away kitty's) special little hide-out she liked behind the TV. The sister would go there often and sleep, when she had only rarely done it before. Her brother would put his paws up on the speaker and look over, as if wondering where she'd gone. But he only did that once or twice after she died. The sister was obviously forlorn and depressed for a long time.
I finally decided one day this Spring, to wash the blanket back there, that the passed away kitty used to sleep on. I saw the brother look back there one more time, and the sister cat has never gone back there since I washed the blanket. It is sad to know they have had to say "goodbye" but now that they did, they both seem a lot happier to me.

I have tried to be so strong but you made me cry...My dog Lucy missed Hippie really bad. She would go and look everywhere for her. We did not let her know when Hippie died so she never knew what happened to her. I wish we had of showed her when we buried Hippie it may have helped I was so distraught I didn't even think of it.Our dog Lucy was a follower also, now we have a new dog Desi and Lucy is the boss now. She still perks up when we say Hippie and it been over a year, I guess they never forget. God bless their souls,I love em.DEBBIE

When my Katie died, Kujo the little white terrior mix was very upset. When Deceased Pet Care came to pick her up, Ku got on the stretcher and would not move off. He kept trying to see Katie. It was breaking my heart. I was having a very hard time too. I said let him say goodbye to her. I did not want them to take her. I wanted to scream that I had changed my mind. Ever since Katie died, Kujo has seemed to go downhill. Bless his little heart, he is on four meds, but he seems happy now. He cannot see hardly and cannot hear at all. But he still trys to get into the middle of the big dogs, Odin and Dreamer. Losing Katie has been worse for me than Ku I think, but he did grieve. I think it was good that I let him say goodbye. They had been best friends for 10 1/2 years. Okay this is making me cry. Bye
