Oh, I'm so sorry about your loss! It's just awful, we all know the gaping hole in our hearts...However hard it might be, try not to dwell on a decision that is definite, we must trust the vets when our furbabies are suffering, even if we would give anything in the world for them to be well and with us. Do cry and hold on to the memories of your little boy when he was happy and healthy. He was lucky to have a good mummy like you and you to have a loving boy like him. I'm sorry for your loss but you wouldn't have wanted tucker to suffer just to keep him with you. But he is watching over you and in the meantime keep a stuffed litle friend nearby to hold onto

It's tough to know if you do the right things in these situations, but the vet gave you advice with Tucker's quality of life in mind. Try not to feel guilty. Even though a vet tells you it's best, I know it still feels horrible to make that decision. I'm so sorry for your loss.

You did the best thing for your baby. I just put my dog down Dec. 17th. She had a ruptured disc and lost feeling in her back legs and she made the surgery ok but on the third day she developed Myelomalacia and that eats the spinal cord up. There is no cure and she would of died a painful death. I would of mortgage my house to save her. I had no choice and my husband and I cry every day because she brought sunshine to our home. She was only 6 and I miss her everyday and I did the best thing for her and so did you. Remember all the good things about your baby and now she is in a place with no pain. It takes time to get over your loss but it will get better with time.. Believe me I feel your pain.

I am sorry for your loss. It is always tough to lose such a close companion. But do not spend the rest of your life thinking what if. You did what you thought was best for Tucker and do not punish yourself for that decision. Tucker knows and understands.

Thank you everyone for all your kind words it really helps. It just isn't the same without him :( my other dog is depressed to she cuddles up and Tucker's blanket all the time .

Tucker is name of my big boy English Setter mix....I also call him Tuck or Tucktuck....sorry you lost your baby...hugs

I called Tucktuck too lol but his nickname was Bubb not sure were that even came from but he got so excited when I called him that. He was such a silly little boy

Im so sorry for your loss. Yes our pets are like family members and losing them is so hard. 2 of our pet rats died suddenly within 2 weeks of an airborne rodent respiratory illness and the loss I feel has broken my heart. Im sending hugs your way.

csabre I misspoke I said tucker was English Setter mix...I had an English Setter pure breed but Tucker is English Pointer mix...my mistake

I am sure bubb is waiting for you and having fun with all our other fur babies at the rainbow bridge...

this breaks my heart, it's just so painful when we lose our loving pets. You did the right thing, though he's out of pain, you're suffering :( ...

this is the hardest part of having furbabies... they give us so much joy during the years they're with us, but even more sadness when they have to leave.
