Pet Bereavement Support Group
The loss of a pet or animal to which one has become emotionally bonded can be an intense loss, comparable with the death of a loved one. Whilst there is strong evidence that animals can feel such loss for other animals, this community focuses on human feelings, when an animal is lost, dies or otherwise is departed.
My cat Big Boy died. RIP Big Boy. October 2005 to November 13, 2012. I journalled about it on November 14, and 15, 2012.
Big Boy was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Last year he lost a lot of weight and never really gained it all back. He was also attacked by raccoons two times that i know of in the passed four years.
Did he give up hope because life became too difficult for him? Was it parasites as i always blame parasites in florida for deaths that i don't understand. its a problem here even with defleaer and dewormer. was it me? i run a rescue as a hobby and when we have too many animals i get so foggy with it that i can't keep things as straight as i'd like to. it becomes like the survival of the fittest. there is always an abundance of food and water and all that. we have very little death. but there is always something every year. and if it goes smoothly all year, then we will get hit with a bunch of death at the end of the year.
we adopt out 100 animals per year through our "hobby-rescue." at this point we have adopted out 900 animals in the passed nine years.
good thing i started rescue when i did, because i can feel myself tiring from it or from old age. i can't do now, what i could do five years ago.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
