Agreed. I've had a couple of good ones over the past 3 decades but more often than not they don't seem to know anything more than I already know. Or they try to push their agenda on you. My newest one seems okay but I'm not feeling "it" yet. We'll see. I feel like I get more insight from reading posts on this board!

I really like my current therapist in DBT. I've had some who I necessarily wouldn't suggest, but the one I have now fits with me. I am learning how to function in a normal relationship with the natural ebbs and flows of it. My therapist and I have been through a lot, but she has helped me tremendously. When it comes down to it though we help ourselves.

some are good and some are bad.I've had both.

Don't give her so much credit. She will turn on u in a heart beat. She will abandon u if u r no longer fulfilling her agenda.

If you dont like your therapist,you should not stay with them.Get a new one.

therapists are human mine has gone through breain cancer and is only 34 when she came back after treatment she is not the same but she is trying to help me although now she suffers with depression how ever being a two time survivor and also suffering from depression is very weird, I am fifty eight, but we connect from the cancer standpoint very strange however I respect her more now that she has been through this

I am not talking about a specific therapist just lots of them.

I had had many therapists who were good for somethings. not for others. I do respect them. But I kept looking and finally found one I stayed with for a few years who really really helped me. I just go in once and a while now for a session or two, but am finally doing quite well on my own. It takes persistence, but there are good ones out there.

I agree i have NEVER find a good one at all...

All they want is money and most of them suck.

I wish there was an easier way to find a good therapist. Credentials are not enough.

I haven't been to any good ones lately......because I can't find one!!!!

that being said, I did have a few goods ones a long time ago when I lived in a different part of the country.

Not to be a pain in the ass but for those who say therapists are "human" too and i heard it many times....yeah but they are human charging money for their services.

If they were surgeouns and messing up on the surgeries noone would be saying "they're just human too"....You could sue the living pants out of them.

They are human but they are trained and charging for a service in which the should be compatent.....But therapist malpractise is very hard to prove...so they get away with being down right bad and some dangerous.

I totally agree unomas.Therapy is one of the only services provided behind closed doors where no one can observe.What the therapist does or says is never seen except by the client.Ive complained about therapists in the past to their supervisors and been dismissed because i guess they all cover each other and i'm just the crazy one.There should be some way for their supervisors to at least observe them from time to time.

I've had a few crappy therapist and just stopped seeing them and looked for someone new. If you don't like your therapist then you are not going to get out of them what you need.
I have a new psychologist and he is great. I have to say he's the best I've ever had. He gives me different perspectives on stuff and gets me to dig into issues as well I have weekly homework.

I just started a CBT course with another therapist and she seems nice but it will take time to tell.
