Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
Its a tough thing to get and the judges aren't always amenable. Maybe you're more upset about things in general than you can process, and feeling numb from your emotional overload is also numbing you from reality?
Again, not sure! See someone and take care!
When I am in that mode, I feel like a Star Trek ship where the shields are down and I am in threat of being attacked -- so I try to find a safe place (inside my mind) and journal or get some crayons and a cheap book of blank pages and let your into ones draw out their feelings. You will find out a lot of what is happening internally by just letting your hand go free. -- Remember no internal dialog, no adult parts of your personality are allowed to talk to your inner children and nothing they draw is "wrong" - you are just listening to what they want to say.
I went to see a therapist yesterday because things still feel so strange to me. He told me I am experiencing something called Cognitive Confusion. He told me to limit as much exposure to outside stimulation as possible. So I am to sort of isolate myself for the time being from even conversations that might upset or even otherwise excite me. No movies, even seeing loved ones would not be a good idea because I am in overdrive and need to calm down to a level where I can again broaden my ability to process what is going on around me more normally.
Any thoughts?
I havent really heard of cognitive confusion so I cant say anything in any direction with that. Though I would probably still look up grounding techniques they can help if you begin to get very upset.
