I try so hard to be a good person, try so hard to get better, and I try help people whenever I can...however I seam to be a magnet for the cruellest narcissistic people out there...I don't understand, I feel like its something I'm doing but I don't know what it is...how can I formulate lasting relationships with decent people who are not hell bent on causing me harm?

I totally understand what youre talking about. Ive had my share and well all Ive been able to do is dedicate myself to a lot of therapy so that I dont go for those kinds of people. Ive avoided a lot of pain so far but I cant say Im in a relationship that has worked since Ive been single. But I have been able to learn to see the signs before its too late and Im emotionally invested.

Even if you arent in counseling if you start looking up ways to spot abusive people, most of them are that narcissistic cruel people out there.

I happen to be in the emotional/physical abuse forum too, though I havent been there in a while, when I WAS frequenting it it helped me to really be more aware of the patterns between those kinds of people.

You deserve better. Just need to protect yourself
