Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
Treatments are complicated, in the sense that they are not that clearcut, even if you seek DBT or (more likely) Cognitive-Behavioral. Even general therapy can be good. But strangely, the person with OCD often becomes so OCD about therapy that it can get entangled. But a good and experienced therapist, who has a good sense of humor, to keep it "light" can really help.
OCPD is not the worst thing in the world, its more an attitude towards life about seeking perfection and "guarantees". If a person can accept themself, and life, as it is, and tolerate some anxiety rather than become rigid. they will do well. (True for everyone).
