Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
I have talked with my therapist about it just a bit. I see traits of it in myself--like exhibitionism, somatic complaints, shifting emotions, inability to handle criticism, dressing and acting provocatively.
I don't see myself as wanting to be the center of attention and that is a key part, from what I have heard about histrionic PD.
But my body/emotions work together to somaticly express my emotions to gain sympathy and attention. I am trying to deal with this in therapy...and it is really hard.
I have some big time early parental loss and daddy issues. I hear that these also can feed into histrionic PD.
What about you tabby?
Good luck.
