introvert or extrovert?

I am both.. does anyone else feel this way? I can be so assertive in some groups of people. . And so insecure in others. . Even one on one .. my doctor said im like a empty vase and when i go into a social situation the people fill my emotional empty vase with there emotions and i then feel confused on what im feeling and what they are feeling. . And i do do this.. since becoming aware i have noticed myself getting all worked up over a co workers personal problems. . For example.. but i usually become aware after i leave the situation. . And then re group. . Could my BPD cause me to fluctuate?

I can relate.

I teach and am not shy there. I can also sing in front of an entire auditorium.

But put me in a cocktail party and force me to small talk and I'm in a panic.

i'm the same way......at one of my jobs i'm pretty extroverted.....i'm really assertive and have total confidence.....but at my other job super shy.....same thing with my family.....my dad's side i'm pretty shy but my mom's side i'm an extrovert....i think BPD has a part in it

This is something I was thinking about lately. I identify much more as an introvert, because I am introspective and often need time to myself to think. But sometimes I wonder if I am naturally an introvert or if it could just be shyness and social anxiety causing me to be more like an introvert. When reading about Jungian types, it said that someone is born either an introvert or extrovert, and being forced to suppress their natural type will lead them to become neurotic. I have pondered the possibility that I could naturally be an extrovert who was forced to suppress that and become more like an introvert because of my social anxiety caused by bullying and rejection. When I was a kid, I do remember being more outgoing at times. Not sure though, I most likely am an introvert.

I think that is a awesome response segador. Im going to research jungain. .. because i have no idea what that could be. I actually had phobia as a child of being bullied to the point of faking sick to extreme. . Having doctors tests and stuff done on me because i was a smart faker.. i had a good childhood..so not everyone with mental health problems has a super traumatic upbringing .. i can tell you feel that u can be social. . Sometimes it takes some serious guts but once u dive into the freezing cold lake.. the hard part is done u mind as well swim..
