Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
I have tried several different mood stabilizers, but they don't do anything for me. And they shouldn't have any positive effect on me. Because my BPD isn't a chemical imbalance. My moods aren't chemically imbalanced. I need therapy.
I do also suffer from severe anxiety. And I would never go without those meds. Not because I take it out on people or because I behave poorly. But because anxiety is physically and mentally painful and exhausting on myself.
Just my input. =D
I have Bordrline Personality Disorder, with violent tendencies. Added to that a seizure disorder and the effects of a stroke.
I am talking about people that hear voices telling them to hurt others, or people like me with seizures. If you dont take your meds and have a seizure while you are driving or working, then yes, I am gonna get mad about it.
I take my meds and work very hard to control my condition. It's like women that cant afford to take care of themselves much less anyone else that keep having babies and expect the government via my hubby's taxes to support them. grrrrrr
I was sectioned a few months ago after I was started on new meds, then when I was taken off them again, I had hardly any recollection of the events that led to my being sectioned.
I am starting a new med this week and I'm locking myself away, so that I can't get myself into trouble.
My husband is going away on business on Tuesday, so I'm taking my children to stay with my mother. I hate being dependent on other people, even family, but for my children's safety, it's necessary.
I am so sorry that you are having a hard time. I myself, am currently going through a trial with new medication. I will pray for you. I am talking about people that know they need meds and just refuse to take them.
Then they end up on the street or in jail and blame everyone else for their own woes.
Many of us work very hard to deal with our conditions. It is never easy. In fact, it is very hard. I hope we can all learn to become proudctive members of society.
Love and Hugs

I know exactly how I get without my meds...I'd be seriously DELUSIONAL if I really thought that I didn't need them. Not only that...but I've never been treated for my seizures. Doctors are just looking into it now...and I've been telling them for quite some time.
Sometimes, and this might sound odd...I idealize prison, or living on the street...or locked up in an institution...I don't know why....but I just do. There are times where it seems like fun. But, I continue to take my meds.
Now I am able to deal with the ups and down of life without loosing control.
I must admit though that I thought for a while that I was fine without them and thanks to my friends here I came to realize I really did need help.
