Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
I'm so sorry anyone has to suffer from this disorder, we didn't do anything to deserve this. I hope this doesn't sound selfish but it does make it a little easier knowing there are other people who understand, if only we didn't need to suffer from this disorder to acquire that understanding.
I have managed to keep a husband for 25 years so guess I should congratulate myself for that except it's probably because my husband not only hates change, he also hates quitters so you get the idea. I have three wonderful young adult boys, two are in college living at home but still I have an emptiness, a loneliness, a sadness that hurts sometimes.
My heart goes out to all who suffer from BPD whether it was acquired from child abuse or not, it's just as painful no matter how we got it. I wish you all the best of luck in your recovery.
