hey everyone!!! i started reading the book "i hate you--don't leave me"...my psychiatrist recommended it as did my therapist from the hospital....i'm almost done with it....i was talking with my outpatient therapist and she said that it's really not her favorite book about BPD.... i agree.....i just want to warn you guys about the book should you decide to read it: everything that they say is based on MAJORITY.....when i started reading it and it said things about BPD i felt awful about myself and was like,"i don't feel that way..." so what they say isn't true about EVERYONE....when i started reading it, it made me doubt the fact that my therapist wants to see me and in some aspects made me feel worse about myself....once my therapist told me that it was based on the majority i calmed down.....they also talk about people with BPD are manipulative.....that is a total loaded word.......my therapist and i both agree that people with BPD are NOT manipulative.....you agree or disagree, but the point of that is that they use a lot of loaded words....i just wanted to warn those of you who decide to read it what it entails, because i wish that i had known before i decided to read it
Yeah, the "I Hate You" book's better for the OTHER person in the relationship. When I thought I was maybe BPD and I read that book, I just wound up feeling like more of a misfit.
BPD is also different from NPD and I think the manipulative piece is more of narcs; not all BPDs have narc tendencies.
I think I like the "Walking on Eggshells" a little better.
