Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
I didn't understand BPD at all when I was first told I had it, never even heard of it. But there are treatments for it, one is DBT, invented by a borderline Marsha M. Linehan to help us change out thoughts etc. I've heard that with medication and therapy BPD eases off around when you hit middle aged, which sounds like a very long time for something like this to lift. I read in a book that most of the serious symptoms will ease off, leaving the more bearable ones left. There is hope :)

I am in the medical field myself and I don't get too hung up on these diagnoses; mental health diagnosies and usually vaguer and fluctuate more that medical disorders. "Diagnoses" are mostly because there has to be something for the doctor to write on an insurance form. I think the most important point is treatment and what you do to improve.
Good luck.
