Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.

Those are probably the best two for basic, and unbiased info. A good book i would suggest is called "somtimes i act crazy: living with borderline personality disorder." Theres a lot of good information in there and it doesnt put us in such a negative light.
It does say BPD is hard to treat BUT that's mainly because it's a relatively newly defined disorder that hasn't been researched enough. However, they are rapidly finding effective treatments. Compared to two years ago I find way much more positive information and treatment strategies.
I hope your search goes well and I hope your treatment goes well!
