I was reading about medication on a different forum and I was reading that the psychiatrists of BPD patients don't really want anything to do with them or want to prescribe them psych drugs?

I have suspected BPD for many years and finally after a few months in therapy my therapist believes I have it.

The past few weeks have been horrible. I started cutting again and was doing it pretty regularly. I've been having severe paranoia. I've had relationship issues with boyfriend and friends. I've been a hot mess to sum it up.

I ended up taking a high dose of Klonopin when I was feeling suicidal. I was sent to a psych hospital for a week.

I have seen my therapist three times since being out of the hospital but I go to the psychiatrist this week and I'm really nervous that he is going to yell at me

i'm sorry that you're struggling.....i don't think the psychiatrist will yell at you.....they might actually give you a script and try some meds.....i've never heard that about psychiatrists and in m experience that hasn't happened.....i switched psychiatrists for other reasons and the one i currently have is great.....she has given me a mood stabilizer that helped with the moods....when i feel suicidal i take another medication....currently i'm trying to ween off the mood stabilizer.....i feel like i'm ready to do so....i think the decision to prescribe drugs depends on what the psychiatrist has seen, what the therapist has seen and how the patient feels......i would discuss with your therapist your fears and tell the psychiatrist what you fear as well......i hope this helped....if you ever wanna talk, please feel free to message me

If your shrink yells at you...you mean it is bc you took too much Klonopin? My question is, why did his treatment leave you in such a state. You make sure you say to him that the treatment he has given you has fallen short. Don't make him think you are out for blood or a lawsuite but he needs to take responsibility if you were in such a bad way. It is his job to help you be stable. You should not have gotten to where you were. That is, unless you don't really take meds and are doing talk therapy regularly and meds on occasion.
But still, make him talk first.
that is my two cents.
The older I get, the more I see that things are not right and wrong, only your presentation of you being right or wrong counts. My husband convinced a guy the other day that he was at fault for an accident that was totally my fault. He had a good reason to do this and I don't want to go into it here. We ended up saying that this was a no fault accident. I mean, the guy went along with it.
So much of what we expreience is just based on how we present it.

Cutting and paranoia sound more like some type of schizoid-affective situation, rather than BPD. Are you sure you were dxed correctly?

This is only the second time I've seen the psychiatrist. My first visit with him he prescribed a new anti-depressant and the klonopin because other anxiety meds knock me out. I was scheduled for a follow up 4 weeks later but was in the hospital and had to reschedule and I finally was able to get an appointment.

Maybe paranoia isn't the best term to describe what is going on. I have more like social paranoia like that if I don't hear from someone that they hate me or that my boyfriend is cheating on me. I do not have any kind of schizo-affective disorder.

I'm just embarrassed to have to go in and explain the whole situation over again.

cutting can be part of BPD.....the social paranoia thing sounds like OCD.....i have the same thing....like if i don't talk my parents at night or they don't respond to my texts i think that they're dead....it sucks that you have rehash everything.......it can be a pain, but it'll help them help you
