Personality Disorders Support Group
Personality disorders form a class of mental disorders that are characterized by long-lasting rigid patterns of thought and behaviour. Personality disorders are seen by the American Psychiatric Association as an enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior that deviates markedly from the expectations of the culture of the individual who exhibits it.
For instance, while most people suffer with attachment issues...I suffer from DEtachment issues. While everyone is out there always looking for someone to make sure they're not abandoned...I'm not looking...if I stumble across them...then that's how it happens. I was diagnosed with BPD almost 4 years ago now...but, that doesn't mean that anyone who has it will truly understand it. Even the doctors don't understand it. It's just one of those things.
It was also really helpful for me to read lots of bpd blogs to get a feel for the range of bpd. I agree with the comments here so far that the outcomes of bpd are as varried as people on the planet. The core of it seems to be attachment & abandonment issues. My blog is www.heartjunky.wordpress.com, and there are links to lots of other blogs and resources there. Healing and coming to terms with this is a very, very individual process. There's no pill, and there's no guaranteed therapist or program, but I DO believe that there definitely IS HOPE. Love to you.
