The Next US Eclipse

The next total solar eclipse in the US is in April 2024.   I am thinking that San Antonio, TX is the place where I want to see it.  It's a long drive from here, but there are attractions enroute.

I might go to San Antone a month early, because there is also an annular solar eclipse happening a few weeks before the TSE. The two paths actuall cross near the town.

I would go farther south, into Mexico, perhaps as far as Durango.

Mazatlan, on the west coast of Mexico, is also on the path of totality, but is likely to be overrun by tourists. Air clarity and weather are also important factors to consider.

The 3-hour drive between Durango and Mazatlan is said to be spectacular. Perhaps a triangle tour could be justified, arriving in one city before the eclipse, and departing from the other, after.
