Another US Rover Lands Safely On The Planet Mars
This week, the most sophisticated planetary probe ever made landed on the surface of the red planet, Mars. Once it has been checked out, it will start sending back more images of it's travels. Things are changing so fast. If you could travel back in time 100 years to 1920, to tell people that robotic vehicles from Earth would be exploring Mars a century later, what portion of the population would find the statement credible? At the time, automobiles and radio were just beginning to go mainstream in the US.
The probe carries sound recording equipment and a little helicopter for getting aerial views. The planned duration of the mission is one Martian year, which is about two Earth years long.
