Peptic Ulcers Support Group

A peptic ulcer is an ulcer of one of those areas of the gastrointestinal tract that are usually acidic. Most ulcers are now known to be associated with Helicobacter pylori, a spiral-shaped bacterium that lives in the acidic environment of the stomach. About 4 % of gastric ulcers are caused by a malignant tumor, which is one reason to be vigilant in their detection.

I have a stomach ulcer but I don't have helicobacter Pylori. I have had it for many years now (7.5-8 yrs) and I just want it gone. Any one else have this situation or have any suggestons? I have medication to keep it under control but I want it gone. Any help at all please?

i have the same and i'm being tested for immune deficiencies and possible malignancies.

I had an endoscopy last week that shown several (apparently healed) stomach ulcers and my h-pylori test was negative. I am having a repeat one in a few weeks time.

i want mine to be gone as well. It's a 2 year wait for an endoscopy unless I wind up in the ER with my ulcer bleeding. I'm amazed you've managed for so long- you must have a lot of strength! How do you manage?

Sorry I'm not of any help- I'm still trying to adjust to having an ulcer.

Buy Gaviscon and previcid/prilosec (OTC). Take the previcid either once a day or twice a day.

Take the Gaviscon whenever your stomach hurts. Don't take any OTC or prescribed meds on an empty stomach, esp asprin, etc.
