Do we Need Cable TV?

I cut back my cable service from $66.00 to $33 for basic instead of standard. Two TV sets. I need the basic because of the reception. When the signal goes from analog to digital in February, I will buy television coverter boxes and drop the cable all together. No more paying to watch TV. I have started to listen to radio again. To NPR stations. They have comedy shows, car repair and home gardening. Also, listen to the talking heads from both political sides. I enjoy it. I listen to the baseball games too. Try listening to the radio, its nice and free. The converter boxes will make your TV picture crystal clear and no need to feed the cable company.

Next I need to drill in the backyard for some oil. Ha!

don't forget to get your voucher to reduce the cost of the converter box. you can get it from the federal government.

Jack watches the sports channel on cable and I am addicted to fox news and cnn. I call my cable provider everytime there is special offer and go to the "retention center". There I threaten to leave for the competition. They give me all kinds of discounts for 6 months to a year. Like now I have HBO free for an entire year. If you don't ask you won't recieve.

I have to have cable. That's how I get Internet acces. I'm addicted to Daily Strength. It really is NEED. LOL

We gave up cable and are so much happier w/o it. The commercials drove us crazy. This is such got to have society. We listen to the radio or we play music or we just enjoy each other. Occasionally we rent a movie, maybe twice a month. We usually end up feeling like we wasted an hour though.

Enjoy my cable and digitial, and once the cross over is made, will need it unless I replace 3 TV's......
while I don't watch much TV, it's nice to have the option...
Maybe when I retire, will cut back, because it expensive and I get all the premuium channels, but for now, it's nice........plus, visitors enjoy it.....
Do have my internet and phone service bundled in,however, and saved almost $60 a month immediately with that..
Guess if it boiled down to it, there are a lot of things we don't 'need' but we want........
I want my cable & digital boxes......

Renee....I cut my cable off due to my husbands job closed down. I was angry with them anyway's I felt ripped off. I also felt insulted by many of the subject matter the show on the channels that I didn't get the service back. We did go get our converter box for the new digital wave to hit us. But I have to let you know that regular rabbit ears on your tv will not be enough to pull in a steady channel. We had to buy a digital TV antenna for the roof to do the trick. Our stations are now in and with only minor disruptions. Bad weather does effect it. But they do give you a couple of free channels where I live. I don't miss cable. My husband does at times when his games are not on local tv.
