I last posted the end of March. At that time, I was so wrapped up playing mother of the bride and wedding planner that there was no time for anything else. The wedding took place May 30 and it was picture perfect. Whew!
The end of May put me in a tailspin to finalize the school year in the library so, again, the whirlwind of activity kept me away.
As soon as school let out it was vacation time. I thoroughly enjoyed a 12-day jaunt which included Shoshone Falls, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and the Great Salt Lake. Of course it was slow going and I missed some sights that required too much walking, but still a memorable trip.
Two weeks of babysitting grandkids followed my return. Not the most fun part of my summer. I just can't take/keep up with the under five crowd anymore.
A few day trips and campouts completed the wonderful summer season and then school started again. I'm back at it, working way too many hours. Ugh. I even had "the talk" with my boss that I couldn't keep up my previous pace, and yet I do. Shame on me.
PD has been managed for the most part. Of course there were days that I didn't feel so good, and evenings when I hit the wall and could go no more, but nothing noteworthy. Until now.
Today was the first day the temperature dropped significantly. Sitting at my son's soccer game I wore five layers on top, a scarf, hat, and gloves, covered my legs with two blankets, and drank hot cocoa. Still, after an hour, I could barely move. My husband had to help me out of my chair. I was holding in moans, and at the restaurant we stopped at for dinner the waitress asked me if I was okay because it looked like I was in a lot of pain. My response was yes I was okay and yes I was in pain.
The doc says PD is not aggravated by cold, but let me tell you, for the four of five months we get a pseudo winter I am miserable. The cold just plain hurts. My joints and muscles stiffen and lock up, especially my head, neck, shoulders, and back, but also my hips and knees.
Does anyone else have problems with cold weather aggravating PD? My next step is to look into arthritis, though I have no symptoms of the disease other than joint stiffness. I don't know what is going on, but this is about my fifth really painful season. I'm not ready to be a sunbird and move south for the winter. Doc says, "Don't get cold." Smart alec.
