Also he usually says grace before we eat and half the time he can't get the words out right.
The PRAYER:
For what we are about to receive, Dear Lord, make us truly thankful.
AMEN.
The first five words are like a tougue twister........
I wait patiently but sometimes it's impossible for him to say, and then other times it comes out beautifully.
I also help him get started if he is having difficulty.
We laugh sometimes when this happens, so at least it takes the stress out of it, but it is frustrating for him, I am sure.
I've had a few Speech Therapy sessions, and breathing properly is a vital part of it. I am a shallow breather, so I do some simple breathing exercises and they help a lot.
I have a strong Yorkshire accent, and some find that hard enough to understand without the added problems!!.. lol.. that in itself may seem like a language all of it's own.
My symptoms are always worse when angry, anxious, stressed & frustrated etc.... it's quite a common thing with pd. It's a vicious circle where you know what you want to say or saying and the problem kicks in, which angers you and therefore makes it worse, I tend to make a light hearted joke or comment about it then forget it and move on.
Be strong & be safe...
Dirky ?;O))~
At least now I know this is common with PD. My voice hasn't really changed, but I often stutter and have trouble getting the words out even though I know exactly what I want to say. My tremors and speech are a dead give away to my wife and she see's it coming on way before I do and tells me I need to chill out, take a sedative and relax. Easy for her to say lol.
Gets very frustrating and embarrassing at times when other people are around.
After talking with all of you, it seems we all have very much in common. Maybe it's time the student teaches the teacher ? lol
My tremours mostly effected my right hand and generally my right side, I first noticed my left hand shake after 8 or 9 years. Now they effect all my body but fortunately not always all at the same time... but every now & then they do kick in altogether. My tongue, jaw also join in as they must be feeling left out.... lol... When the bad times roll I just do my best to keep calm inside and ride it out.
I wish you well, be strong & be safe.....

Thank you for sharing, and big hugs for you !!
I took find myself stuttering or stumbling over words as I read. It isn't so bad that it stands out yet. In normal conversation, I've had a lot more people say, "What?" this past year, as sometimes my voice heads into soft-mode. But in church, I make a conscious effort to project. I think I usually succeed at that.
I was on Sinimet, now on Ropinirole. Today will likely be fun, as this initial does isn't helping as much as the Sinimet was, so my wife will probably be standing next to me, massaging my arm.
I also found out last night that being cold really magnifies my PD symptoms. I'm praying the heater is working good at church this morning. lol.
Hard to get rid of stress no mater what your on lol.
