I have been progressing through the normal PD symptoms for the last 5-6 years and generally coping reasonably well. However, my hand tremors have considerably worsened over the last couple of months and my 4 Simenet and 1 Azilect a day don't seem to be helping much.

Can anyone recommend any other drugs that have any effect on hand tremors or any other tips that might help me.

Artane, (Trihexyphenidyl) is an older drug and works well for tremors. It can be used with some of the other Parkinson's drugs.

If you click on the green word above, the Artane in lady Jan's post takes you to a report on that drug, which also shows other brand names of the same drug. My oh MY how interesting that list is. T r y to remember that they are sold UNDER a VARIETY of names, by other companies but the same drug none the less.

I take Benzotropine (Cogentin) and it helped tremendously. Except for the dry mouth, I have not noticed other side effects. I am constantly dizzy, but that's either the PD or one of my other chronic conditions. Just learning to live in a very wobbly world.

The drugs everyone is mentioning fall under the category of anticholinergics.

You can order a a free booklet on medications from the above site. Go to the top of the page and click on the publications site. Everyone should have a copy of the medications booklet cause it explains most of the drugs used for Parkinson's symptoms in an easy to understand way. Take it with you when you go to see your doctors so you can use it when the doctor suggests medicines for you.

Thanks for the info from everybody. My tremors are getting worse, so I'm looking for some relief . I have a Dr's appt. next month , so I want to be prepared to talk to him about some different meds. Millie

I was taking 6- 6-1/2 sinemet a day with azilect and the patch. I was doing pretty good but my neuro was concerned because I was taking the sinemet every 3 hours but slight tremors started up after 2-1/2 hours so she changed my sinemet to every 4 hours (5 a day. I take an extra 1/2 sinemet at on 6:00 am dose to get me going. With each sinemet dose I take a Entacapone (Comtan). I still take the Azilect and 2 mg patch. It seems to be working all right. She said if it works all right she will put me on Stalvo and take me off of both the sinemet and entacapone because Stalvo is a combination of both but I won't have to take one of each any longer.
