I don't think you've talked about sweating on this forum for a while. My husband never used to sweat unless he was really working hard or the heat from the sun was making him sweat when working.
Now when he is doing a simple jobs around the house he sweats heavily. His shirt is partially soaked on the upper half of his back. He even has problems when he wears his suit in church. It is a little warm in the church in the winter for the first half, but it's always been that way.
Today he said that he might not wear his suit again because he is too warm.
I think it's another symptom of PD and a form of weakness, and I don't know if there is anything we can do about it. He takes Sinemet four times a day. I've never mentioned this to the MDS, but I will ask him next time.
Do you have any suggestions?

Hi! Dopaminergic Stimulation is the only option for profuse sweating i know of. You can check it out with your Dr. for appropriate deatails. The sweating is likely, from what i understand , a result of the progression of th diseasse and is directly related to the cellular damage in the substantia nigra and goes hand in hand with bodily failure to control its own temperature. I have found that PD has really changed the setting on my body's thermostat. I can sit comfortably in a t-shirt when others are putting on sweaters. I sweat a lot more easily than I used to. When I sweat it's the running down my face, wet shirt variety. I'd say don't worry about not wearing a suit to church...I'm sure the Lord won't mind.

I agree with Phil... PD has totally messed with my internal thermostat... i'll be freezing when my family are all warm and sweating when there's no real reason to sweat (i have never been a sweating kind of person but now that's all changed .... i never really knew if it's from the meds or the disease but something has changed me...all part of it i guess!!! hugs... paula

Hi i do not have problem with sweating . But i do have periods , rt before mds wear off or start to take effect , that I get very cold or warm. To the point that i have to take sweater off or put it on. It is the PD that cause this. All kind of unpleasant symptoms come with this disease this is not the worst. Zlatica

I am 68, and have been wondering for several years why I am still getting hot flashes. Never have been severe, or a problem. Was diagnosed wth PD about 18 months ago, so, I guess now I know the reason.

Extreme and excessive sweating only after starting lexapro. And only half my body - wet shirt every night - get's old and irritating. Not at all like a hot flash.

extreme unforeseen chages in body temp is just one more symptom to deal with. we used to joke and call it mentalpause. I am usually hot and sweat easily and have cold feet at the same time. Loss of sense of smell is a benefit to that the smell of sweaaty people does not bother me. Good luck and hot tubs for all. Alex

Hi Lynnie, I don't cope too well with both extremes of weather.... In the summer I always try to wear light-weight cotton shirts & trousers(pants to you guys)..lol.. they have to be loose fitting too. Though generally I sweat more now than I did 10-12 years ago.

I'm much the same as your husband, with regards doing little simple jobs.... I dread wearing suits, I feel restricted and it's uncomfortable... but I can't really avoid it when out on special occaisions etc...

I take Sinemet CR in both full & half version...4 full & 2 half daily... I'm overdue to see my Neuro, so I may have to ask him if anything needs adjusting etc....

Thanks guys, It could be the meds, but he only takes 4 x 2
100mg/25mg of Sinemet so it's really not a lot of pills.
He seems to happen when he is too hot or over exerting himself, so It must be something to do with the symptoms. There really nothing that can be done, but we'll mention it to the doctor next time.

Just recently started this sweating thing. It is only at night and i think that is what wakes me in the morning lots of times because I'm so hot and sweaty. i wonder if it is due to the progression of the PD because I'm into it 15 years plus 2 before dx. I'm beginning to wonder if there is anything this disease doesn't do to you. Guess we just keep moving forward and hold each other up. Thank goodness we have this place to come to.

I am taking 4 x 2 25/100 Sinemet also and have drenching sweat at night, extreme sensitivity to cold--it hurts.
