As I have said before, right now my main symptoms is tremors in my left hand and leg. I also have some rigidity along with some aching and cramping in the left hand and leg. While I would describe my tremors as mild, they are still quite annoying to me at times.
Lately I have noticed that I apparently have several ways of trying to stop the tremors. The weird thing is that I don't do these things consciously and most of the time I don't even realize I am doing it. There is clearly a part of me that wants the tremors to stop! (surprise, surprise) lol
Here are the things I have noticed more and more the past several weeks:
While standing I am either holding my shaking wrist with my other hand or I have folded my arms and stuffed the hand under my other arm. Sometimes I rest my hand on my waist with my hand bent under at the wrist.
While sitting at work when I am only using my right hand or while I am eating, I am constantly catching myself in this position - my legs are crossed and my left hand is in between my thighs. This is my most common position and I don't even realize I have done it until my wrist starts aching. Then I think, No wonder my wrist is aching. Duh!!!
When reclining in bed while watching TV, I often find that I have tucked my hand under my legs, or put a pillow over it.
For awhile I thought maybe this was a self-conscious issue, but the more I paid attention, the more I noticed I am doing these things when no one is around. Now I am thinking maybe it is a comfort issue, because the shaking is rather uncomfortable at times.
Those of you with tremors in your hands, do you do these things? If you do, are you doing it consciously?

I must say though that you're more self aware than I am as I didn't notice it at all - my husband did. I couldn't figure how he'd know when I'd had a bad day so quickly, but I was doing the same as you, holding my wrist. nursing my left arm and leaning on my arm. Now that I'm aware of it I notice I do this all of the time I even use it to stop it when tremors are getting too much by sitting on my hands.
