I am having severe left leg pain now for approx. 3 weeks. I can not take large pills due to swallowing issues. I have researched online various medications that are recommended for Restless Leg Syndrome that has pain associated with it but the pills must be small in size as I have problems swallowing. Is anyone suffering pain related to Restless Leg Syndrome and if so what medications are you finding work the best.

I take the Neuro patch that helps me with the restless leg syndrome caused by the PD - my legs would jerk and jump and it is painful and very troublesome. I'll have to probably take something else. I take the smallest dose 2mg but am going up to 4mg because it also helps me with the rigidity. A friend who does't have PD but does suffer from RLS takes the smallest dose of Requip (I don't know if it is a large or small pill) and says it works for her. Of course the patch would be great you wear it not take it. Good luck.

Try a medication called Baclofen. Baclofen is a muscle relaxer and an antispastic agent.

Baclofen is used to treat muscle symptoms caused by multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons etc. including spasm, pain, and stiffness.

Deb try this too first. STOP eating bananas and fruit juice, and limit foods higher in POTAssium..you too Kit. My legs do NOT jerk unless I stray from this.

i dont have leg pain or drink fruit juice i just grind up vegetables and berries in blender and .drink/eat it down...nice to see you www!

get you blood panel done to check potassium levels as either too much or too little can result in the same issues.

I was finally able to get seen for leg pain yesterday and was prescribed Tramadol. Within 15 minutes of taking this medication the severe pain in my leg stopped. I was not able to get any relief for pain from my neurologist but he did refer me back over to see my family doctor who prescribed me the medication so I am now having a good day being pain free.

Do you take the pd meds - sinemet? I had terrible dystonia and rigidity pain and when I started taking sinemet the pain was relieved immediately. If I forget to take my meds the dystoina pain is one of the first symptoms and I know then I forgot my pills. I would watch out with the narcotic pain medicine which tramadol is a narcotic med.

If you do not want to take the sinemet right away (alto I did get immediate relief for pain from sinemet) before I started taking sinemet I did Tai Chi which would really help with the pain (don't ask me why) I took Tai Chi 3 times a week.

This is not advice but instead a question. When I am sitting still my left leg never stops moving back and forth. Is this a symptom of Parkinson's?

I have the same problem only in both legs especially my right. My neuro started me on Gabapentin (Neurotin) 2 - 300mg capsules, one hour before bed, It has done the trick, and he chose this med because it does not effect the liver, goes through the kidneys and out. I take a lot of meds because of PD and other issues. Hope this helps and good luck.
